JUTE passionately engages others in the telling of new stories that stimulate the mind, revitalize the spirit and lift the heart, providing a true sense of true belonging. Since 2004 JUTE Theatre Company has operated from its home at the Bulmba-ja Arts Centre (formerly called the Centre of Contemporary Arts)- a significant regional infrastructure, funded by State Government.
Our development initiatives work to create a connection between our theatre makers and our audiences, providing many access points for us all to come together to increase the cultural prosperity of our region, making it a vibrant place to live.
Behind the scenes JUTE is working non-stop to raise the voltage of creative excellence in our region. We invest in people, enabling them to tell their stories, providing mentoring, training and support for regional actors, directors, playwrights & independent producers.
We love our audience, even those that have yet to see our shows! It’s thrilling to watch someone experience theatre for the first time and our engagement programs give theatre newbies the confidence to experience a whole new world. For our regular theatre- goers, we now provide fun ways for you to deepen your knowledge of the theatre artform and provide you with many avenues to learn more and respond to our work.
