The concrete Presbyterian Church was designed by the architect Richard Hill, who was based in Cairns, and built in 1924. Tenders were called in April 1924 and the building works would have been after this date. The Cairns Post in 1935 advised: "Tenders are being called for the erection of a reinforced concrete hall for the Presbyterian Church, Gordonvale. This has been made possible by a legacy from the late John Gordon. The hall when completed will be of modern design and a decided asset to the town. Tenders close with Rev. Ernest Johnson on Monday, December 16." The porch has a marble stone stating that the hall was opened on 10 June 1936. A photograph dated 1925 shows a gabled weatherboard building with a porch, addressing Sheppard's Street, at the rear of the present church building. The caption to the photograph states that the timber building was the 'Old Church'.
