The Great Barrier Reef Chinese New Year celebrations present a cohesive cultural experience for locals and visitors alike, offering cultural performances, food experiences and activities designed to encourage people from diverse backgrounds to come together and celebrate.

With a two-week program of events running inline with the Lunar New Year in January and February each year, including the following premier events:

• Chinese New Year Day Celebrations and Fireworks
• Yum Cha Lunch
• Cairns Airport Chinese New Year Street Festival
• Lantern Festival Celebrations
• Art Exhibitions
• Heritage Displays
• Tai Chi

CADCAI is proud to organise and present the Great Barrier Reef Chinese New Year celebration, but it’s only possible with the gracious support of the community and many wonderful volunteers. We also acknowledge our sponsors and supporters, with whom we celebrate the growth of the Festival, and share the wealth of Chinese traditions to the wider community and encouraging all to share.
